🔒 Privacy
Pip’s Playroom keeps everything on your device. No accounts, no ads, no tracking, no cookies.
Pip’s Playroom is an early version, still in development. This page will always say what it keeps and sends. The rest of the small print is in About & terms.
👋 Who we are
Pip’s Playroom (pipsplayroom.com) is a free, non-commercial project run by the family who made it. We’re responsible for the little information described here (the “controller”, in the words of data protection law such as the GDPR). To reach us, see Questions and your rights below.
📱 What Pip’s Playroom keeps, on this device only
To remember where your child is up to, Pip’s Playroom saves a few things in this browser's own storage (or in the app):
- the name and age you gave in the setup, and your Grown-ups settings
- stars, levels, stickers, and which games were played on which days (the last 60 days)
- words you record in “Words in your voice”
- games and voices saved for playing with no internet
None of this is sent anywhere. Other devices, and the people who made Pip’s Playroom, can’t see it. It’s only there so the games work, so there are no cookies to agree to. Grown-ups → Your child → Start over clears stars and levels. Clearing this site’s data in your browser’s settings, or uninstalling the app, removes all of it.
🛠️ Error reports, so problems get fixed
When something breaks inside a game, Pip’s Playroom sends a short report, so it can be fixed quickly. A report says:
- the error message from the code, and where in the code it happened
- which game or page it was on, the game’s level, and which version of the app
- the kind of device and browser (for example “iPad, Safari 18”), screen size, language setting, and whether it was online
- the last few taps before it went wrong, by which button (never anything typed)
A report never includes your child’s name, age, stars, recordings, anything typed, or your internet address. Each error is sent at most once a day from a device. Reports are used only to find and fix problems.
We send them because keeping the games working for every family is a legitimate interest, and as the reports can’t say who anyone is, it doesn’t come at the cost of your privacy. You can object at any time: go to Grown-ups → Help and turn off Send error reports, and none are sent from that device.
💬 Feedback you choose to send
If you send feedback from Grown-ups → Help, we get what you typed, the face you picked, and the same details about the device and version as an error report. Only add your name or email if you’d like a reply: we use it only to answer you. We keep feedback because you asked us to read it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
⏳ How long we keep it
Error reports are deleted once the problem is fixed, and within 12 months at most. Feedback is deleted within 12 months of being dealt with, or straight away if you ask.
🌐 Who else is involved
Pip’s Playroom relies on two services, which handle information only to run it for us:
- Vercel hosts the site and passes on error reports and feedback. Like any website host, it sees your device’s internet address when the site loads, and keeps it in its logs for a short time.
- GitHub is where error reports and feedback are kept, in a private list only the family who made Pip’s Playroom can read. Internet addresses aren’t kept with them.
Both are in the United States. Information sent there from the UK or EU is protected by the safeguards those companies provide for it (the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses).
The letters, pictures and voices all come from Pip’s Playroom itself, so playing doesn’t contact any other company. The one exception: when a word has no recording, your device’s own speech voice says it, and some devices use an online voice for that (from Google, Apple or Microsoft), which sends the game’s words, never your child’s name, to that company.
We never sell or share information for advertising, and nothing is decided automatically about anyone.
🧒 Children’s privacy
Pip’s Playroom doesn’t ask children for any personal information. The name and age you give stay on your device, sending feedback is in the grown-ups’ area, and error reports carry nothing that says who your child is. They’re used only to fix problems.
✉️ Questions and your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete anything we hold about you, ask us to stop using it, or ask for a copy. Send a note from Grown-ups → Help → Send feedback and add how to reach you. As reports don’t say who sent them, telling us roughly when and on which device helps us find yours. We’ll answer within a month.
If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled your information, you can also complain to the data protection authority where you live (in the UK, the ICO).
